The path lies before his face
laid as the path befitting a king
But his countenance as that of a drifter whose journey seems more certain
and his destination most times a mirage in the mirror of his thoughts

Who walks the king's highway
but yet appears like a subject?
Pride for his crown
courage as his robe
and strong will as his scepter
A drifter, he is and yet he walks the king's highway
.................................................

Perhaps a closer look could tell his story
for many a time he had stopped to mend, dig and to pave
yet the road ahead is quite unfinished
but right behind the drifter, the road looks beautiful and well paved, gleaming with the drips dropping from the drifter's face
Yes, it wouldn't be but for the hands that never rested, the eyes that never slept and the heart that never ceased to beat in hope.

The thickest of stumps he removed with ease
despite the blazing and fiery rays of the sun
and even the hilly heaps of debris, he turned a plain of riches
even in the cold of the nights
....................................................................................................................

And lo, the king's highway is made not by the subjects but the king himself
All the way to the palace he has built in the grace of providence and perseverance
Trod on your majesty, your palace awaits you
and your subjects are eager to bid you welcome
Trod on and never faint, for no one can make your road be in the worth of the king's highway .
